Maldives Introduces Reward Program for Frequent Travelers

Explore the Maldives’ New Loyalty Program

The Maldives has introduced an exciting three-tiered loyalty program, designed for visitors to enjoy a range of rewards, services, and benefits. As members progress through the tiers, they will experience increasing value and unique offerings.

Starting from 1 December, the Maldives Border Miles program will reward visitors for their frequency and duration of stays. Participants will earn points based on the number of visits, with bonus points available for special occasions. Although the specific rewards are yet to be disclosed, the initiative aims to enhance visitor experience and engagement. This program was implemented in response to the 1.7 million travelers who visited Maldives in 2019 before it closed its borders on 27 March to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The country successfully reopened on 15 July, equipped with enhanced safety protocols.

Program Tiers Explained

Maldives Immigration has established three distinct categories within this program: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The Bronze tier, known as Aida, is inspired by the Divehi language, symbolizing a bright star in the sky. The Silver tier, termed Antara, signifies attractiveness and prestige, while the elite Gold tier, Abaarana, is an honorific designation traditionally associated with monarchs, reflecting the highest status in the loyalty program.
