Marriott Bonvoy Introduces New Credit Cards

The Marriott Bonvoy Bevy American Express Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Card from Chase will earn 6X points on stays at Marriott Bonvoy properties.

If you’re considering a Marriott Bonvoy credit card, now might be the perfect moment to explore your options. The hotel loyalty program has announced two exciting cobranded credit cards: the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy American Express Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Card from Chase. As David Flueck, Marriott International’s senior vice president of global loyalty, noted, “We have the highest demand in our company history for new Marriott Bonvoy credit cards.”

1. Overview of Marriott Bonvoy Credit Cards

These two new credit cards stand out due to their ability to help cardholders earn Marriott Bonvoy Points at an impressive rate. With a competitive annual fee of $250 for primary cardholders, the cards offer significant rewards for travelers.

2. Benefits of the New Cards

  • Earn 6X points on stays at over 8,100 Marriott Bonvoy properties worldwide.
  • Access to 70,000 vacation rentals through Homes & Villas by Marriott International.
  • Receive an additional 1,000 bonus points per stay.
  • Earn 4X points on up to $15,000 spent at restaurants or grocery stores.
  • Earn 2X points on all other purchases.

When considering the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card, which also earns 6X points on Marriott Bonvoy stays, it’s worth noting that it has a higher annual fee of $450.

3. Additional Rewards and Status Upgrades

To further illustrate the benefits, let’s assume you stay for three nights at $300 per night using one of these cards. You would earn 5,400 points as a standard member, plus the 1,000-point bonus, totaling 6,400 points. Moreover, elite status members enjoy an even higher earning rate, gaining 10% to 75% more points during their stays. This means frequent travelers could accumulate tens of thousands of points, redeemable for free nights globally at Marriott Bonvoy hotels.

However, with the elimination of the fixed award chart in March 2022 in favor of dynamic pricing, determining the exact points required for a stay has become more complex. For instance, rates for a one-night stay on November 1 can vary significantly—from 7,500 points at the Four Points by Sheraton Oklahoma City Quail Springs to 120,000 points at The St. Regis Bora Bora.

4. Changes to Existing Cards

The expedited point accrual is just one of the perks attached to the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy American Express Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Card from Chase. Cardholders also receive complimentary Gold Elite status, which translates to an additional 25% in points earned on eligible hotel purchases, enhancing reward potential further. Additionally, cardholders earn a free night award, redeemable for up to 50,000 points after completing $15,000 in spending, along with 15 Elite Night credits that contribute to achieving higher tiers of elite status.

In conjunction with the launch of these new cards, Marriott Bonvoy has also improved the offerings for the existing Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card to now include complimentary Platinum Elite status. This prestigious status provides benefits such as hotel lounge access, room upgrades, and late check-out, subject to availability.

“We all missed taking trips with family and friends, and our members are again experiencing the joy of travel throughout our portfolio of 30 extraordinary brands,” Flueck stated. “Our refreshed credit cards make travel even more attainable with new point accelerators on everyday spending and richer travel perks.”
