Meet Ken Block’s Hoonifox, a Radical Widebody Fox-Body Ford Mustang

Ken Block’s Latest Creation: The Hoonifox Mustang

We all know Ken Block by now. The former rally driver turned Hoonigan is responsible for some of the most captivating automotive content to ever grace the internet. His Gymkhana series not only showcases incredible driving skills but also features stunning vehicles that captivate any car enthusiast.

Introducing the Hoonifox

Block has taken drifting to new heights, famously maneuvering everything from rally-ready Fords to widebody 1960s Mustangs. It’s clear he has a soft spot for Ford vehicles, as his racing career with the Monster World Rally team consisted entirely of their cars. Recently, he teased his latest project which resembles a Fox Body Mustang adorned with a significant amount of carbon fiber. This creation has now been officially unveiled as the Hoonifox.

The Hoonifox is indeed a Fox Body Mustang that features a liftback design and GT-style taillight louvers. Additionally, it has undergone the full Hoonigan treatment, boasting wide flares, side-exiting exhausts, stylish five-spoke wheels that resemble deep-dish SVT Cobra wheels fitted with substantial Toyo R888R tires, and an eye-catching hood scoop.

A Concept in Development

The creative mind behind this stunning design is Ash Thorp, who also contributed to the design of the new Batmobile. However, it’s important to note that the Hoonifox is currently just a rendering—a concept that is still under consideration by Block and his team. There is a desire to bring it to life, but decisions regarding its construction are still pending.

Should the Hoonifox move from concept to reality, all-wheel drive will definitely be part of the upgrade. As for the engine, various options are being evaluated. Possible powertrains include an EcoBoost V-6, a naturally aspirated V-8 from Roush Yates, or even the electric drivetrain from the Mustang Mach-E. Regardless of the final choice, if the Hoonifox comes to fruition, it will undoubtedly serve as a tribute to the beloved Fox Body Mustang. Everyone involved shares a passion for this iconic vehicle. Moreover, it appears that the Hoonigan crew envisions producing an ’80s-themed Gymkhana video featuring the Hoonifox, pending its actual construction.

The Vision Behind the Design

The accompanying video provides insight into Thorp’s design influences for the original Fox Body and details how his vision for the Hoonifox was brought to life. It’s a captivating watch that highlights the creativity at play. The virtual liveries depicted truly show off the potential of this captivating concept car. Many are eager to see the Hoonifox become a star in the Gymkhana series.
