A groundbreaking immersive art center is set to open in Miami in spring, with blockbuster shows and attention-grabbing exhibitions aimed at captivating art lovers in 2021.
Superblue: A New Frontier in Experiential Art
Tapping into the growing trend of multisensory experiences, Superblue, a new company dedicated to experiential art, is launching its inaugural center in Miami this spring. This venue promises to open with a bang, featuring large-scale works from the esteemed Japanese art collective teamLab, renowned for their innovative multi-channel exhibitions that intertwine technology, nature, and light. Equally impressive, stage designer Es Devlin, celebrated for crafting stunning visuals for iconic performers like Beyoncé and Billie Eilish, will also have her work showcased. Additionally, James Turrell, a distinguished figure in the Light and Space movement, will be featured.
Facilities and Future Plans
Superblue’s Miami art center is housed in a repurposed industrial building, providing over 30,000 square feet of installation space. The venue will not only offer immersive exhibitions but also programming areas for talks, performances, and workshops, alongside a shop featuring artist-inspired merchandise and an outdoor café.
Following its debut in Florida, Superblue intends to expand to multiple locations across the United States, Europe, and Asia. The center is set to collaborate with prominent artists such as Nick Cave, Mary Corse, DRIFT, Simon Heijdens, Jeppe Hein, Studio INI, JR, Koo Jeong A, and Rafael Lozano-Hemmer.
While the grand opening was initially planned for last December, the pandemic caused a delay. However, preparations are now underway for an “early spring” launch, with final opening details forthcoming. For additional information, please visit Superblue’s official site.
