An Overview of Midnight Moon Cabins
Looking for the perfect lake town getaway in the U.S.? Discover Midnight Moon Cabins in Big Bear, California. Big Bear Lake has long been a favorite mountain escape for southern Californians, providing a refreshing change of scenery just two hours northeast of the bustling freeways of Los Angeles. This trio of cabins nestled in the San Bernardino National Forest, known as the Midnight Moon Cabins, embraces the relaxed lake life vibe while incorporating upscale features to ensure all the conveniences of a luxury rental.
California entrepreneur and interior designer Sarah Salvatore owns and curates these cabins. It started as a passion project with the transformation of one cabin in 2018. Salvatore shared, “Midnight Moon Cabins was born out of a dream I had that was shared and nurtured by my husband Troy [MacCubbin]—a fiercely faithful, brave, and bold partner who believed in me so wholeheartedly and pushed me to be my bravest and best self.”
The Unique Features of Each Cabin
With a strong commitment to design, architecture, and home renovation, Salvatore has successfully transformed the three “dated and old-fashioned” cabins into modern masterpieces. “Our goal was to bring the Big Bear cabin experience into modern times while fully preserving the outdoorsy, all-natural mountain resort ambiance that defines the area,” she explained.
Each cabin showcases mid-century modern decorations and minimalist designs, yet achieves the goal of modern comfort in distinct ways:
- Moondance: This newly introduced cabin focuses on comfort and can accommodate up to five guests across two bedrooms, all featuring breathtaking mountain views.
- Moonshine: The largest of the three cabins, it boasts three bedrooms: one king bed, one queen bed, and twin bunk beds, comfortably sleeping up to six guests.
- Firefly: This dog-friendly A-frame cabin is ideal for families, sleeping up to five people with a king bed and a loft featuring a queen bed and two twin beds.
Ideal Location and Amenities
All cabins are situated among pine trees in the convenient Lower Moonridge neighborhood, close to Bear Mountain Ski Resort and Big Bear Zoo, with a short drive to the lake. Moreover, an eco-friendly feature in each cabin includes EV chargers for electric vehicles. Rates for these luxurious accommodations range from $299 to $499 per night.
As Salvatore beautifully expressed, “Today, our original dream has come true beyond our wildest expectations thanks to our cherished friends and neighbors in Big Bear as well as the wonderfully supportive guests we’ve welcomed over the past three years who make running Midnight Moon Cabins a genuine labor of love each and every day. Whether you’re searching for the perfect romantic getaway in the mountains or a place to bring the whole family, Midnight Moon Cabins has got you covered. Adventurous couples can enjoy a day on the slopes or a romantic hike in the area. If cozy fireplaces and lazy snow days wrapped in luxe bedding are your style, then this is exactly where you will want to be.”
