This year it is hosting more than 1000 performances on 12 different stages, taking place over three consecutive weekends starting at the end of June. It is an event you don’t want to miss!

After attending Summerfest, we concluded that it is not only the largest music festival in the world but also one of the best festivals globally! The phrase “Hello Wisconsin!” is a staple, emanating from rock stars greeting their fans here for decades.
Why Summerfest Stands Out
This isn’t your usual summer festival that only attracts up-and-coming acts. Instead, Milwaukee features big-name artists alongside newcomers, welcoming everyone from Katy Perry to the Foo Fighters.
Cost of Summerfest
One aspect we love about Summerfest is its affordability. With an all-day pass for just $17, attendees can roam the grounds after doors open at 12:00 noon, exploring their favorite bands or discovering the next big talent. Once inside, you can easily transition from one act to another, providing a diverse festival experience.
Most festival-goers purchase tickets for a headliner and then venture to see other bands. However, even without tickets to the headliner acts, there are still stunning performances from well-known groups to enjoy.
Summerfest Highlights Across Music Genres
We had tickets to see the late, great Tom Petty, but after enjoying his performance, we moved on to catch LL Cool J. As fans of Mr. “Ladies Love Cool James,” attending his live performance was a must. We then enjoyed Cake as they performed hits like “Short Skirt, Long Jacket.” Where else can you see Tom Petty and then, minutes later, enjoy the energetic rap of LL Cool J? Only at Summerfest.
Summerfest Stages – Festival Seating
We are big fans of Cake. Their humor resonates with us, especially in songs like “Sheep Go to Heaven, Goats Go to Hell.” Standing in a large crowd, we made our way to the front row, driven by our enthusiasm and the festival’s relaxed atmosphere, which allows for drinks to be carried throughout the venue.
Getting to Summerfest, Milwaukee
We had transportation booked via the Summerfest bus, but the venue’s close proximity to downtown made walking back to our hotel an option. It only takes about 10 minutes to reach The Hilton Garden Inn, though we appreciated the shuttle service after midnight. Summerfest shuttles run every 7 to 10 minutes from downtown and cost $3.

- We enjoyed a family fun park, kids zone, waterfront activities, and more entertainment along the waterfront where you can even join in playing music.
It’s surprising that many, including ourselves, are unaware of Summerfest’s legacy. This year’s performances include famous names like Rush, The Eagles, John Mayer, Barenaked Ladies, Violent Femmes, and Billy Idol, hinting at what awaits next June—road trip anyone?
