“My grandfather Joaquim Modesto de Brito, who lived from 1931 to 2000, was a well-respected fisherman and a founding figure of Casa Modesta. He was affectionately known as ‘The Champ’ or ‘O Campeão’ in Portuguese. This place is infused with his memories and dedicated to our Grandpa, our first master, the champion of the sea,” Carlos shared.

A Homely Atmosphere

The legacy of Carlos’s grandfather lives on through the beautifully transformed space. He initially turned the property into a whimsical landscape with trails, mini lakes, and colorful decorations using recycled materials. The on-site brick oven, where Carlos’s grandmother bakes bread, serves as a centerpiece for workshops aimed at maintaining a homely ambiance for guests. When Carlos and Vânia took over, they were determined to keep this essence alive while offering high-quality accommodation.
