A new exhibition is opening in Sydney that pays homage to the paintings of artist Claude Monet through light, color, and sound. It also utilizes immersive technology to trace the history of the Impressionist movement, spanning from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century.
About the Exhibition
Monet & Friends – Life, Light & Colour premieres at Sydney’s Royal Hall of Industries in March. The exhibition features stunning projections of paintings on an enormous scale, illuminating the bold brushstrokes of Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, and more. This remarkable experience transports visitors back to a transformative era in European art, delving into the rich history of the Impressionist movement amidst the social and political turbulence of the time.
Immersive Experience
This exhibition examines the world of Impressionism across three main movements: Metropolitan, A Day in the Life, and En Plein Air. As visitors wander through the galleries, they will encounter a 360-degree cinematic environment where the gallery transforms into mesmerizing states of color, complemented by an evocative classical score.
The experience celebrates these iconic paintings through the spectrum of color and aims to transport visitors inside the Impressionists’ greatest works. Notable images displayed include the waterlilies Monet painted at his garden in Giverny, along with the ballerinas captured by Edgar Degas during their practice at the barre. Moreover, the exhibition is designed to be a safe and COVID-compliant, family-friendly experience.
