Transforming Montana’s Ski Scene: A Resort’s Impact in Its Second Season

Montage Big Sky: Elevating Luxury Ski Vacations

Located on 3,530 acres of Montana’s Spanish Peaks mountain range, Montage Big Sky has quickly redefined luxury skiing in the region since its opening in December 2021. The resort features a perfect blend of natural wood and stone with modern design, offering a sophisticated mountain retreat just an hour south of Bozeman.

Winter Activities Available

During the winter season from November to April, guests can engage in a variety of activities at Montage Big Sky. Enjoy ski-in/ski-out access to Big Sky Resort, or opt for snowshoeing, tubing, and ice skating if you seek a different winter experience. Furthermore, exploring the hotel itself, with its curated local artwork, boutiques, bar lounges, and even a bowling alley, offers a delightful adventure. My first priority was to indulge in a beginner ski lesson under the clear Montana skies.

Personalized Ski Itinerary

Being only a novice skier, Montage Big Sky crafted a ski itinerary tailored to my needs. After fitting my boots and skis at the on-site outfitter Compass Sports, I enjoyed a private lesson on the magic carpet practice area, focusing on turning and stopping. Later, we hit the chairlift for a scenic blue run on Lone Peak, where the breathtaking snow-capped mountain views reminded me of the beauty of our natural world.

Après-Ski Experience

In addition to thrilling ski adventures, I savored the art of après-ski at Montage Big Sky. This winter, the resort introduced a new dining concept, La Grande Après at Backcast. This chic outdoor dining space excels in offering elevated mountain cuisine alongside an impressive selection of bubbly, including the renowned Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame. Guests like myself enjoyed luxurious seafood towers, delectable sliders, and memorable treats such as pumpkin fondue and cinnamon rolls.

Exceptional Dining at Montage Big Sky

Each morning, I relished picking up pastries and lattes at the Wildflower Market for breakfast, while dinner brought a state-of-the-art dining experience at the resort’s signature restaurant, Cortina. From Sicilian scallop crudo to rack of venison and tiramisu, each dish was a delight, showcasing traditional Italian cuisine with a touch of Montana flair. It was no surprise that Cortina received accolades, including an Editor’s Pick Award for Outlaw Partner’s Best Restaurant in Big Sky 2022 during my visit.

In summary, whether you are an adventure seeker keen on snow sports or someone who prefers a more relaxed embrace of the mountain lifestyle, Montage Big Sky delivers a tailored luxury experience. The resort excels in creating unforgettable moments based on individual preferences, ensuring that every guest enjoys a unique and memorable ski vacation.
