A vacation should make you feel relaxed and renewed, which is why it’s time to head straight to Iceland. This beautiful country is home to the most relaxing tourist attraction in the world.

Spa Seekers, a website dedicated to helping individuals find the best spa experiences, conducted new research to identify the most “serene destination in every country.” The rankings were determined based on the frequency of the word “relaxing” in online travel reviews. The location with the most mentions of “relaxing” was named the top spot for each country.

The analysis specifically excluded “purpose-built wellness facilities,” including hotels and spas, to ensure fairness in the results. The top locations in every country were ranked both globally and regionally to identify the world’s most relaxing destination, and the winner was none other than Iceland’s Blue Lagoon.

“Iceland’s Blue Lagoon is a world-famous geothermal spa located just under an hour away from the island’s capital, Reykjavik,” noted the findings. The lagoon received an impressive 40,500 mentions of the word “relaxing” in online reviews. It offers geothermal waters along with stunning natural scenery and luxurious spa facilities, including saunas, steam baths, and an array of spa treatments utilizing the Blue Lagoon’s iconic white mud. The geothermal seawater of the pools has been extensively studied, with proven benefits for skin barrier function, collagen stimulation, and deep cleansing. Visitors should take advantage of a mud mask during their experience.

In a statement provided to iBestTravel, Spa Seekers emphasized that thermal pools received high marks overall, with Hungary’s Széchenyi Baths and Pool, England’s Thermae Bath Spa, and the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools in New Zealand making it to the top 10 most relaxing destinations. Outdoor green spaces also ranked highly, featuring France’s Luxembourg Gardens, Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, and the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria in Australia among the top 25 destinations.

As for the most relaxing continent, Europe took the lead, boasting six of the top 10 destinations. Following Europe were North America and its eight spots in the top 25, including Costa Rica’s Tabacon Hot Springs, Canada’s Stanley Park, and Strawberry Park Hot Springs in the United States.
