Summary of The Tampa EDITION
Tampa as a Luxury Destination
Tampa’s bustling cultural and culinary scenes are certainly a draw for visitors, however, the Florida city is also emerging as a luxury destination. Following the recent debut of the JW Marriott, Tampa is set to welcome another high-end property to its ever-evolving skyline.
Overview of The Tampa Edition
The Tampa Edition will open on September 20 in the trendy Water Street Tampa district, a $3.5 billion mixed-use urban development spanning over 9 million square feet. Created by visionary hotelier Ian Schrager in collaboration with Marriott International, this 26-story property houses a hotel and 38 private residences. The design showcases art deco-inspired curves and wraparound terraces. Spanning the first nine floors, the hotel features 172 rooms, a rooftop terrace with a stunning pool, a spa, a gym, and seven unique food-and-beverage spaces curated by renowned chef John Fraser. The Edition’s signature aesthetic, known for its sophisticated simplicity, is powerfully evident here—from the lobby’s 20-foot-high ceilings to the lush garden with Japanese blueberry trees.
Culinary Experiences at The Tampa Edition
The guest rooms and suites are adorned with sleek marble and oak, complemented by custom furniture and stunning photography by the late New York fashion photographer Rodney Smith. Notably, the property’s one-bedroom penthouse features an open-plan living and dining room, pantry, walk-in closet, and spacious bathroom.
Furthermore, The Tampa Edition will introduce seven impressive eateries to the local culinary scene, positioning it as a hotspot for food enthusiasts. Lilac, the signature modern Mediterranean restaurant, artfully blends the flavors of Greece, Turkey, and the eastern Mediterranean.
Amenities and Event Spaces
Situated on the second floor is the Punch Room—a cozy bar designed to exemplify Old Hollywood glamour, showcasing rich emerald and sapphire tones, walnut paneling, and a double-sided fireplace. The cocktail menu pays homage to the legendary pirate Jose Gaspar with Caribbean-inspired drinks featuring aged spirits and tropical fruits.
Additionally, guests can indulge in The Rooftop on the ninth floor, which features another exquisite restaurant, a lavish private pool club complete with poolside cabanas, and a lively bar hosting DJ sets by night. Multiple event spaces, including studios, a boardroom, and an entertainment venue inspired by Radio City Music Hall, further enhance the hotel’s offerings.
