Aeromexico and Delta Air Lines Expand Codeshare Partnership

Aeromexico and Delta Air Lines have expanded their codeshare partnership to launch 17 new flights between the U.S. and Mexico starting next year. This expansion is set to enhance travel connectivity for passengers.

New Travel Options from Major Cities

Beginning January 1, travelers will enjoy new flight options between cities such as Monterrey and New York or Los Angeles, as well as from Mexico City to Boston and Salt Lake City on these newly introduced routes, according to the airlines’ announcement.

Travelers aiming to reach Mexico City (MEX) will find new Aeromexico-operated services now available from Detroit, Salt Lake City, Washington D.C., and Boston. Additionally, the airline will provide service to another airport in Mexico City (NLU) from McAllen, TX and Dallas/Fort Worth, TX.

Frequent Flyer Benefits

Aeromexico will introduce new service from Monterrey, Mexico, to cities including Atlanta, Salt Lake City, New York’s JFK, and Los Angeles. Flights from Bajio, Mexico, will also commence to Atlanta and Detroit. Furthermore, routes connecting Atlanta directly to Mérida will now be operational.

Following the addition of the 17 new routes, Aeromexico will operate a total of 60 daily flights to the U.S. by July 2024. Many of these cities serve as hubs for Delta, enabling passengers to easily connect to their desired destinations throughout the network.

Growth in Tourism to Mexico

According to the UNWTO Tourism Recovery Tracker, Mexico currently ranks as the fifth most popular country for international tourist arrivals. Notably, there has been an 11 percent increase in international tourists in 2023 as compared to 2022, indicating a robust recovery in tourism.

New Flights by Viva Aerobus

In addition to Aeromexico’s expansion, another airline based in Mexico, Viva Aerobus, has recently announced several new flight routes to Mexico from the United States. Key destinations include Austin, Denver, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Orlando, further enhancing travel options between the two regions.
