Oklahoma State Capitol Tour Overview
What to See
When in Oklahoma City, experience the history and significance of the Oklahoma State Capitol through a captivating tour. Operated by the Oklahoma Department of Tourism and Recreation, these tours are designed for visitors, residents, school groups, and other organizations. Guided tours can be scheduled ahead of time, and brochures are available for those who prefer a self-guided experience.
During the 45-minute guided tour, trained volunteers highlight essential pieces of Oklahoma’s historical narrative, including the fact that this is the only capital featuring a working oil well on its premises. The architectural marvel showcases Greco-Roman design and comprises 650 rooms filled with stunning marble floors, hand-painted ceilings, historic portraits of notable Oklahomans, and various artworks. Notable features include the newly added dome.
Outside, the Oklahoma Veterans Memorial stands as a tribute to those who served in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
