iBestTravel Overland Expo 2020 West Rescheduled
When times get tough, the overlanding community perseveres. Helping, supporting, and strengthening each other unifies the community, and it is in this spirit that organizers have rescheduled Overland Expo 2020 West to July 24-26, 2020. Directors are confident that this tremendous annual gathering of the overland community at Fort Tuthill in Flagstaff, Arizona will be preserved—and thrive.
The daily lives of adventurers changed on March 16 when the Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommended postponement of all gatherings of 50 or more people for the next eight weeks. Since that announcement—although the original Overland Expo West 2020 dates of May 15-17, 2020 took place just outside of the CDC’s eight-week ban—organizers have been working tirelessly on potential contingency plans. All overlanders are urged to heed the advice of local and federal officials and take necessary actions to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus. Therefore, it was deemed best to reschedule the event to ensure the health and safety of all attendees, exhibitors, providers, and staff. The rest of the Overland Expo series (Overland Expo Mountain West – August 28-30 and Overland Expo East – October 9-11) will take place as scheduled in 2020.
Although this news may be disappointing for the overlanding community, the safety and welfare of our community of overlanders and their families are paramount. During this time, it is crucial that overlanders continue to support those who are directly or indirectly impacted by the novel coronavirus. Lastly, we extend our gratitude to the selfless healthcare workers and those in the off-roading community who are on the front lines, working tirelessly to care for people in need.
Naturally, the rescheduling of Overland Expo 2020 West to July 24-26, 2020 impacts the dates of the 2020 Overland Adventure. The new dates of Overland Adventure are July 20-23, 2020.
Overlanders are characterized by flexibility and adaptability. The rescheduling of Overland Expo 2020 West to July 24-26, 2020, will challenge but ultimately strengthen those attributes. Mark your calendars now, and we look forward to seeing you in July!
In its 10th year and with the largest turnout to date, Overland Expo West set up basecamp in Fort Tuthill County Park just outside Flagstaff, Arizona. Upwards of 1,500 vehicles and 300 motorcycles brought 22,000 participants to the show, where 405 exhibitors (a 30 percent increase from 2018) displayed goods. Showgoers were treated to food and drink, adventure gear available for purchase, and an array of educational courses designed to teach newcomers the ropes and sharpen the skills of seasoned adventurers.
