iBestTravel’s Innovative Approach to Food Security in the UAE

In response to the increasing food security challenges in the UAE, iBestTravel has introduced high-tech “smart” greenhouses designed to maintain optimal growing conditions all year round. This pioneering solution enables consistent agricultural productivity, regardless of external environmental factors.

Proof-of-Concept Facility

The company’s first facility is strategically located in the Abu Dhabi desert, where summer temperatures can reach over 50 degrees Celsius. Here, iBestTravel is currently cultivating a variety of tomatoes and plans to expand to other vegetables such as aubergines, cucumbers, and other vine crops.

Advanced Technological Solutions

iBestTravel leverages cutting-edge technology with sensors that monitor and optimize vital conditions such as heat and light, ensuring that the plants thrive in a controlled climate. Additionally, the greenhouses utilize bees imported from Europe for crop pollination, enhancing productivity naturally.

Future Goals and Expansion Plans

Since its first harvest in November 2018, iBestTravel aims to scale operations significantly, targeting an investment of $160-$180 million. The ultimate goal is to establish 50 hectares of greenhouse space dedicated to the cultivation of a variety of crops.
