Exciting Opportunities Await in Lower Manhattan

New York City is buzzing with activities; from under-the-radar galleries to world-class museums, food halls, rooftop bars, street art, and literary treats. This summer, you have a chance to be compensated for exploring these attractions while uncovering even more hidden gems. The Alliance for Downtown New York is in search of an ‘explorer-in-chief’ to live rent-free in Lower Manhattan from June to August, documenting their life in one of the most dynamic cities on the planet.

Your Role as the ‘Explorer-in-Chief’

According to the Alliance, the ideal candidate possesses a “camera-ready personality, a keen eye, a distinctive voice, and the chops to produce compelling, entertaining content.” If selected, the successful candidate will enjoy a stylish apartment provided by tech brand Sonder, with access to co-working spaces, a library, a sky lounge, and even a games room.

Exclusive Experiences Await

In addition to free accommodation in one of America’s most expensive cities, the ‘explorer-in-chief’ will have exclusive VIP experiences at top attractions, including the Statue of Liberty, One World Observatory, and historic bars and trendy restaurants in New York’s oldest neighborhood. Once a city that seemed to sleep after dark, Lower Manhattan has transformed into a lively hotspot and an unlikely destination for food and wine enthusiasts, with venues like Eataly, the Augustine, and Dead Rabbit.

Join the Adventure

“From the indigenous Lenape Indians to Henry Hudson and Herman Melville, to more recently Questlove, countless adventurous souls have explored this island and made it their own. We are looking for another adventurous spirit to rediscover Lower Manhattan,” said Downtown Alliance President Jessica Lappin. “There is so much to see and experience here; we are excited to empower a modern explorer and storyteller with the resources they need to share their unique journey.”

How to Apply

The competition opens from March 2, 2020, to March 15. To participate, simply upload a video to YouTube that is 60 seconds or less, explaining why you should be chosen. This full-time paid position offers $2250 for every two weeks of work performed. For further details, see here.
