Reserve Your Security Line Spot at This Major International Airport

What is the Heathrow Timeslot?

Navigating through security at one of the world’s largest airports just got easier. London’s Heathrow Airport recently debuted the new “Heathrow Timeslot,” allowing passengers to pre-book a timeslot at the security screening checkpoint, according to a press release from Heathrow.

Details about the Trial Period

The program is currently undergoing a six-month trial and is free to utilize, specifically for passengers departing from Terminal 3. Travelers can access their time slot options on Heathrow’s website.

As this trial progresses, additional airlines may be added to the pilot program, and a comprehensive analysis will determine whether the timeslot initiative will be continued and potentially expanded in the future.

Booking Options for Families and Groups

Furthermore, in a beneficial move for travelers with larger party sizes, groups of up to five can book the same time slot for security screening. Travelers are encouraged to book their slot up to three days prior to departure and are reminded to check with their respective airlines regarding any deadlines for baggage drop-off or check-in.

“Everyone is familiar with airport security, but at Heathrow, we’re constantly thinking of innovative ways to enhance safety and streamline the experience for our passengers,” said Heathrow’s Operational Planning Director Mark Powell in a statement. “This new trial will provide passengers with an added sense of certainty and reassurance ahead of their journey, and we believe it will be especially popular among families or those who may feel anxious traveling.”

Passenger Growth Stats

Terminal 3 accommodates numerous international airlines including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Emirates, and Virgin Atlantic. Notably, Heathrow served 61.6 million passengers in 2022, reflecting a remarkable 217 percent increase compared to 2021. This growth signifies the largest of any airport globally, according to a financial disclosure from Heathrow.
