RH (formerly Restoration Hardware) has launched an adults-only hotel in the Meatpacking District of New York City, featuring 10 guest rooms, a full-floor penthouse, and a rooftop infinity pool.
New York City may have it all; however, tranquility and privacy are often hard to come by in a bustling city with eight million residents. This is where the RH Guesthouse shines, providing guests with comfort, exclusivity, and the utmost privacy.
1. Guest Accommodations
The RH Guesthouse, now open at 55 Gansevoort Street, is set within a historic 19th-century triangular loft building. The property has been meticulously restored and reimagined, showcasing elevated aesthetics and a unique design concept. There are six adults-only, 500-square-foot guest rooms and three 1,000-square-foot suites that span two stories, making it truly an oasis of privacy. Each accommodation type features:
- Two bathrooms
- Bespoke furnishings
- Architectural lighting
- A private gym
- Soundproof windows
Instead of a traditional mini bar, the suites come equipped with gourmet pantries, which are stocked with a delightful selection of charcuterie, crudités, berries, and fresh baguettes. Wellness-focused Freshbeds by Barry van Doornewaard, dressed in luxurious Italian linens, enhance the in-room experience.
2. Exclusive Amenities
The crown jewel of the RH Guesthouse is the stunning full-floor penthouse, boasting 2,600 square feet and 11-foot ceilings. Although it primarily serves as RH chairman and CEO Gary Friedman’s personal retreat, it will occasionally be available for guests. This luxurious space features:
- Boiserie-paneled walls
- Corinthian columns
- Herringbone parquet floors
- Custom-designed contemporary furnishings
- A monolithic fireplace
Guests can also enjoy breathtaking views of the downtown skyline, lounging on expansive sofas upholstered in Loro Piana cashmere.
3. Dining Experience
RH Guesthouse features a private entrance for guests, as well as a public entrance that leads to the Dining Room at RH Guesthouse. This elegant live-fire eatery boasts soaring ceilings and plush velvet banquettes, serving a curated menu featuring wood-grilled avocado with caviar, Australian wagyu rib-eye, and whole branzino cooked over Japanese charcoal. For those seeking lavish indulgence, the Champagne & Caviar Bar offers an intimate space in the cellar, showcasing a selection of premium Champagnes and Petrossian caviar.
Moreover, guests have exclusive access to a private rooftop: a tranquil garden area featuring a 40-foot infinity pool, daybeds, a dining terrace, and various lounge spots. Here, visitors can revel in panoramic views of New York City’s most iconic landmarks.
4. Rates and Availability
According to Friedman, “Our goal is to create a new market for travelers seeking privacy and luxury.” Nightly rates at the RH Guesthouse start at $3,500 for guest rooms, while the suites begin at $7,500, with a two-night minimum stay required. Penthouse pricing is available upon request.
RH Guesthouse aims to redefine luxury accommodations in New York City by emphasizing privacy and tailor-made experiences. Consequently, it promises a level of exclusivity and comfort not found elsewhere in the urban landscape.
