Concerns regarding road safety have increased in Uganda after a tragic incident involving an Australian couple. Dean Griffioen, 33, and Tanya Natasha Griffioen, 34, tragically lost their lives due to a collision while riding their BMW motorcycle in early November. Consequently, a Toyota 4WD struck them head-on.

The editorial published in Kampala’s The Observer emphasized how the couple’s untimely deaths highlighted significant issues concerning road safety in the country. It was noted that they had managed to traverse the roads of Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Malawi, and Zambia without incident, underscoring the alarming conditions present in Uganda.
