Traveling can be a stressful experience, and one of the greatest fears for many is losing luggage. Despite being a frequent traveler myself, having traveled to an airport two or three times each month, I have only lost my luggage a couple of times in almost a decade of consistent travel. If it has happened to you as well, you understand it’s a frustrating situation, especially after a long flight.
Enter the Galaxy SmartTag2
The Galaxy SmartTag2 is a compact gadget that easily fits into a suitcase, backpack, or can even be attached to smaller items, thanks to its keyring feature. It is designed for Samsung Galaxy smartphones equipped with the SmartThings Find app and retails at £24.49.
Testing the SmartTag2
A few weeks ago, I traveled to Barcelona to test a new EV vehicle. Starting from Charlotte Airport, I had a layover in Philadelphia before my arrival in Barcelona. Layovers can pose a challenge as your luggage passes through multiple hands and planes before reaching you. To ensure peace of mind, I dropped one Galaxy SmartTag2 into my suitcase and another one into my backpack.

Advantages of the SmartTag2
Throughout my five days in Spain, I utilized the SmartTag2’s various tracking features. One feature I particularly admired was the mapped-out location history. By simply clicking a button in the SmartThings Find app, I could track my items’ stops with accuracy, complete with precise addresses and coordinates. It even has a reverse feature allowing users to find their Galaxy phone using the SmartTag2. This feature proved invaluable when I misplaced my phone in my hotel.
Additional perks included its sleek design and a selection of interchangeable silicone or rugged covers in various colors, along with an extended battery life.
Considerations
Although the SmartTag2 is a solid mobile tag, there are some challenges. Apple product users might find it tougher to utilize all features effectively. For example, setting the “notify when lost” feature in the app proved difficult, especially when I switched my phone to airplane mode. This feature, integral to Apple’s AirTag, is missed when using the SmartTag2. Furthermore, the SmartThings Find app requires regular updates for optimal functionality, which is a minor inconvenience considering the recent market introduction of these devices.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, while the SmartTag2 fulfills its overall function well, I personally prefer to stick with Apple’s AirTag due to familiarity. However, for Samsung Galaxy users, this product offers excellent utility. Regardless of the brand, having a mobile tracking solution while traveling is essential. In today’s travel landscape, no one wants to be left wondering about the whereabouts of their luggage.
