Samuel Arnold from ‘Emily in Paris’ Shares His Top Travel Destinations

Travel Insights and Reflections

Where have you just come back from?

“I’ve been promoting the show Emily In Paris so we just did several countries in two weeks. We went to Montreal, Los Angeles, Rome, Krakow, Paris, and then New York. So I just got back to LA last week from those crazy travels.”

Which is your favourite city?

“I don’t have a favourite city. They’re like human beings – too complex to be classified. However, I moved to LA for my career, and I really like the lifestyle and the sun. I take my car and go for a hike in Runyon Canyon, and then drive just 20 minutes to Santa Monica beach. Moreover, there are a lot of options for different diets in LA. I have a lot of vegan friends, so they can eat wherever they like. I’m vegetarian now and have plenty of options here.”

Where in the world have you felt happiest?

“I’m happiest either in those moments when I’m left alone and can enjoy quality time on my own, or in moments when I’m surrounded by my loved ones. It doesn’t matter where.”

Name a place that lived up to the hype?

“My expectations are usually low in everything I do, so I’m often pleasantly surprised. When I see something for the first time, I’m always blown away; it’s always positive. I still possess that child-like view of things. I arrived in Montreal at night, looked outside my window, and thought, ‘Wait, are we in New York?’ I realized it has a fusion of different cities. It embodies an impressive blend of European and American vibes.”

Describe your favourite view

“There’s something about the view of cities at night, whether from a rooftop or a hill – somewhere you can see the city from afar. The lights are breathtaking. When I was on a rooftop in LA, I couldn’t describe how massive and big it seemed. It’s like… mankind did that? I find that incredibly motivating because if someone can build a city, then I can build a successful career. It’s not that hard, you know?”
