The secret to good packing is a solid strategy — and it’s a skill that gymnast Simone Biles has refined over the years.
The decorated athlete has had to pack for intricate and demanding trips, including the Olympics and appearances around the globe — most recently a stay on Celebrity Cruise’s latest ship Celebrity Beyond. Despite lengthy weeks away from her home closet and the challenge of fitting a star-worthy wardrobe into limited space, the 4’8” fashionista consistently impresses, whether she’s donning a sparkly leotard or an 88-pound gown at the Met Gala.
“I used to put outfits in plastic bags and write ‘Day 1,’ ‘Day 2,’ or whatever, and that was my packing hack. But now I think they have those bags that you can suction the air [out of],” she shared during her time on the ship, which she was named godmother of in November.
“That’s really helpful, especially on long trips,” Biles, who has won seven Olympic medals — including four gold — said of shrink-wrapping her outfits.
However, fortunately for the athlete, her stature also aids in fitting clothes into a suitcase.
“My clothes are so little, so I have more space, so I tend to overpack,” she said with a laugh. “It helps me whenever I pack [that my clothes are so little].”
Although you may not be able to choose your height and build, anyone can learn to divide their outfits into manageable daily deliveries of fashion. With just a little practice, you can become a stellar suitcase-packer too.
