Traveling Pants Locations in Greece

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 is partially shot in Greece. Greece also stands in for the Turkish locations used in Sisterhood. The same Greek locations were also used in Sisterhood I.

The Greek portions of the Traveling Pants II movie were filmed on the breathtaking island of Santorini. Iconic scenes took place in the enchanting village of Oia, at the picturesque Ammoudi Harbor, and amidst stunning rock formations and other scenic locations around the island.

However, the official location list from Alcon Entertainment only denotes Greek locations in Europe. Interestingly, some parts of the movie are set in Turkey. The Turkish locations were actually shot in Greece. From a glimpse of an archaeological site in the trailer, it was injured on Santorini as well, though not at Akrotiri, an ancient Minoan town buried in the volcanic eruption of Thira. It seems this archaeological site was created solely for the film, although the chamber one character falls into might be a genuine room at Akrotiri that was integrated into the sequence.

The film is based on the immensely popular young adult series and chronicles the adventures of four friends during and after their first year out of high school.

Moreover, Alexis Bledel, who portrays Lena in the movie, is not Greek despite her Greek-sounding first name; she’s of Argentinian and Mexican-American descent.
