Tesla Cybertruck Updates
If all goes as planned—a significant “if” considering Tesla’s track record—the company will start producing the highly anticipated Cybertruck in late 2021. Furthermore, there are indications that a smaller version of the electric pickup might follow in the future, as suggested by CEO Elon Musk in a recent tweet.
Potential for a Smaller Variation
In response to inquiries about a compact truck for the European market, Musk mentioned that a smaller Tesla Cybertruck is “highly likely down the road.” This aligns with Musk’s earlier comments suggesting that the existing Cybertruck will maintain its current dimensions, while a smaller “world truck” might be developed subsequently.
Specifications of the Cybertruck
The Cybertruck, which spans approximately 230 inches in length, is comparable to a Ford F-150 crew cab short bed. Notably, it outstrips the Rivian R1T by over a foot in length. Tesla’s model has a larger wheelbase and a more spacious bed, demonstrating its capability as a formidable competitor in the electric pickup market.
Configuration and Performance
The upcoming Cybertruck will be available in single, dual, and tri-motor configurations. The range will vary significantly, offering between 250 to 500 miles depending on the battery option selected. In the robust tri-motor configuration, the Cybertruck boasts a towing capacity of over 14,000 pounds. Furthermore, the interior can accommodate up to six passengers comfortably.
Future Developments to Anticipate
It remains uncertain when a smaller Cybertruck might debut, or if it will have the same capabilities as its larger counterpart. However, it’s encouraging to know that this concept is on Tesla’s radar. Additionally, the Tesla Semi is projected to commence deliveries in 2021, while the ultra-fast Tesla Roadster, boasting a remarkable 1.9-second 0-60 mph time and a range of 620 miles, is also expected to launch within the next few years.
