  3. Enhanced onboard experience with USB ports and better Wi-Fi.

Southwest Airlines is gearing up for spring break in 2024 with exciting new flight options to sought-after destinations, including Belize, Los Cabos, and San Juan.

New Routes Starting March 9, 2024

The airline will launch new nonstop service on Saturdays from Baltimore to Belize. Additionally, Southwest will reinstate flights between Baltimore and popular destinations such as Grand Cayman, Turks and Caicos, and Cabo San Lucas.

“To address seasonal travel patterns and demand, the airline brings more nonstop options for Southwest Customers, including those traveling on peak days when new time-saving nonstop service complements a schedule of daily connecting or same-plane service,” the airline stated in a recent announcement.

Additional Flight Options

On the same day, Southwest will introduce a seasonal nonstop flight from St. Louis to Los Cabos, in addition to resuming service to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The airline will also relaunch seasonal weekend flights connecting St. Louis with Palm Beach, Pensacola, and Destin in Florida.

A few days prior, Southwest will restart daily flights between St. Louis and San Francisco, adding further convenience for travelers.

Exciting New Destinations from Austin

From Austin, Texas, Southwest intends to commence new nonstop flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico, effective March 9. On that same day, the airline will also enhance its offerings with flights from Austin to Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta, Panama City in Florida, and Montrose in Colorado. Moreover, Southwest plans to resume daily flights between Austin and Charleston starting March 7.

Changes in Flight Capacity and Onboard Experience

While Southwest is expanding its flight offerings to popular vacation destinations, the airline has made the decision to significantly reduce midweek flying capacity next year. This change is a response to the evolving travel behaviors post-pandemic. CEO Robert Jordan has noted that the airline’s network is “largely restored at this point,” yet “not optimized” for business travel.

Furthermore, Southwest is actively enhancing the onboard experience by installing USB A and USB C power ports at every seat, improving Wi-Fi services, and introducing new beverage options, like Community Coffee’s Espresso + Cream iced coffee.
