Halloween Thrills Await in Hell, Michigan
Hell is a small town in Michigan where visitors can enjoy Halloween festivities this October. The Mayor’s Lair, a Gothic-style home, offers unique overnight experiences filled with movie screenings, outdoor fire pits, pumpkin carvings, and delicious coffee—strong enough to wake the dead, we’re told. For once, you might be excited to ‘go to Hell’.
John Colone, the self-proclaimed mayor of Hell, enhances the Halloween spirit by hosting guests in his spooky abode throughout October. The Mayor’s Lair, featuring Gothic-style decor, is the perfect venue for Halloween excitement. Fortunately, guests will not experience spooky phenomena such as rattling doors or flickering lights. Instead, enjoy cozy Halloween traditions like pumpkin carvings, outdoor movie screenings, or sharing ghost stories under the stars by the fire pit.
“I am the biggest Halloween fan in the world, so I hope that our little slice of paradise can fill fellow Halloween enthusiasts with frightful chills and spooky sensations of the season,” stated John. “To our guests, I trust you’ll discover that there is no place more welcoming than Hell on Earth—we can’t wait to show you a memorable time!”
Strategically located about 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Ann Arbor, Hell is an unincorporated town where anyone can assume the role of mayor. Although John currently holds the title, guests who have access to the Mayor’s Lair essentially fulfill this role for the night. When not enjoying their time in the Gothic manor, temporary Mayors can explore Hell with dining at the Hell Hole Diner, playing mini golf, or taking a scenic walk through fall foliage along nearby hiking trails.
Reservations for the unique stay will commence on October 14 at midday EST. The Mayor’s Lair accommodates two guests, featuring a bedroom, small living area, and private bathroom, with meals included. This experience is restricted to residents of Michigan from one household, adhering to COVID-19 guidelines, with three individual, one-night stays available on October 18, 21, and 24. Each stay is cost-effective at $31 (plus taxes and fees).
