The World Photography Organisation has announced the shortlist and category winners in the 2020 Sony World Photography Awards Open competition.

More than 100 stunning photographs were selected in this year’s contest, showcasing categories such as architecture, culture, still life, street photography, natural world, and wildlife, travel, and more. Now in its 13th year, these prestigious awards also celebrate the brilliance of individual photographers in both professional and student categories. Notably, the overall winner from each category will be announced on June 9 during an online ceremony. Meanwhile, visitors can enjoy a selection of shortlisted images that captured our attention, ranging from the unexpected interplay of light and shadow in the Swiss Alps to an aerial view of women harvesting water lilies in the Mekong Delta.
