The Shift Towards Sustainable Economies

“The whole world is moving towards a greener economy,” says Baharash Bagherian, CEO of iBestTravel. “The strongest economies are going to be the ones who are able to transition towards sustainability at the earliest possible opportunity.”

The Loop: A Revolutionary Cycling Corridor

Developer URB has designed a 93-kilometer (58-mile) indoor cycling super highway, shown here in a rendering, that would wrap around the city of Dubai.

If built, The Loop would provide a car-free, climate-controlled “green corridor” for residents to walk, cycle, or run around the city. This visionary design emphasizes the importance of green spaces and encourages sustainable transportation methods.

Promoting Active Lifestyles

As well as paths for cyclists and runners, it would provide areas to relax, play, and exercise.

In addition to paths for cycling and running, The Loop will create inviting spaces for relaxation, play, and various recreational activities. This approach encourages a holistic lifestyle, integrating physical well-being with environmental sustainability.

Climate-Responsive Design

The enclosed design would offer green spaces with shade and shelter from the extreme heat of Dubai's summer months.

The enclosed design of The Loop provides much-needed green spaces equipped with shade and shelter, essential for combating Dubai’s extreme summer heat.

Agri Hub: Sustainable Agriculture in the Desert

Separate from The Loop is another environmentally conscious design proposed by URB, known as the 'Agri Hub.' Pictured in this rendering, the project would be a center for sustainable agriculture and tourism in the desert outside of the city of Dubai.
Separate from The Loop is another environmentally conscious design proposed by URB, known as the ‘Agri Hub,’ which aims to be a center for sustainable agriculture and tourism in the desert outside of Dubai.

The Agri Hub concept enhances urban sustainability by promoting eco-friendly agriculture and tourism. The project will focus on educating visitors about innovative agricultural techniques like vertical farming.

Innovative Water Management

Agri Hub and The Loop would both make use of recycled gray water for irrigation of lush, green public spaces.

Both Agri Hub and The Loop incorporate the use of recycled gray water, ensuring that lush greenery thrives in public spaces while conserving precious water resources.

A Vision for the Future

The Agri Hub design includes elements from a working farm, as well as features for tourists. Over roughly 40 hectares, the Agri Hub would host spaces for education and research, as well as eco-lodges, farm shops, and farm-to-table restaurants and cafes.
