Pop icon, Taylor Swift, has been accused of endangering a rare New Zealand bird called the dotterel, while filming for a new music video this week.
Local conservationists express concern that the singer’s production company violated the restrictions of its filming permit for a beach near Auckland, employing a dozen vans and four-wheel drives instead of the allowed two vehicles.
“It’s really disappointing that such a large number of vehicles would park and drive all over the beach,” stated Sandra Coney, a representative from Waitakere Ranges Local Board. Furthermore, in response to the concerns raised by conservationists, Taylor Swift’s production company, Cherokee Films, has made a contribution to a dotterel breeding program. It’s noteworthy that New Zealand is home to only 1700 remaining dotterels, which are renowned for their camouflaged appearance and distinctive “chip-chip” call.
