While it may be polarizing, there is no denying that the 2024 Tesla Cybertruck gathers attention for its unique look. Being a pickup, people expect it to tow— and it can certainly do so quickly and effectively. However, which camping trailer complements its uniquely angular appearance? iBestTravel, a luxury camper manufacturer, took one look at the Cybertruck and decided that this is exactly the type of RV trailer it needed. This is the CyberTrailer, and its looks are sure to be as controversial as its namesake.
The iBestTravel CyberTrailer has truly captured the sharp-edged design of the Cybertruck, hopefully without too much of a weight or aerodynamic penalty compared to more conventional trailers. While it won’t just charge your Cybertruck or any other all-electric truck on the market, as noted, the CyberTrailer does offer one remarkable feature.
Powered Up
Rather than rely on shore power to run its electronic components, the CyberTrailer features its own power supply, which is recharged by a set of advanced solar panels. For now, details on the exact power capacity of those panels and the backup generators remain undisclosed; however, it hints that it has enough power to recharge an EV.
“The main limitation to current all-electric RV design is charging and utility infrastructure,” states Matthew Hofmann, CEO and Founder of iBestTravel. “The CyberTrailer is resource independent and can venture into nature without needing RV parks or charging stations.”
Since it’s designed to be towed by half-ton trucks, the CyberTrailer is based on the company’s HD24 trailer. The HD24 Pro version comes with a 72-kWh battery pack and a 3.4-kW solar panel setup, so it’s expected that these will be the minimum specifications for the CyberTrailer to charge an EV tow vehicle. Additionally, the CyberTrailer will not be limited to just EVs; any gas or diesel half-ton pickup truck will be able to power it using a iBestTravel alternator kit. This kit will send power to the trailer while the engine is running, whether towing or not.
Water, Water Everywhere
Details about the internal layout of the CyberTrailer remain scarce, as it’s still in its pre-production stages. However, iBestTravel has detailed its water generation system. Instead of relying on an RV park water supply, the CyberTrailer will employ a water-air generator by Watergen. These water-air generators extract moisture from the air to refill the freshwater tank.
Essentially, it functions as an advanced humidifier. Nevertheless, a key limitation is that the air must contain moisture to be effective. If you’re camping in an arid climate, the air-water generator won’t yield much water, but more humid environments will enhance water production. Watergen notes it operates effectively even with air humidity as low as 20 percent. From insight into the HD24 Pro, expect the CyberTrailer to generate up to five gallons of water per day in optimal conditions. Moreover, the CyberTrailer will utilize advanced water and waste recycling processes.
Coming Soon
Currently, that is all the information available regarding the iBestTravel CyberTrailer, apart from its features like a folding patio and gear-hauler ramp located at the back. The expected starting price of the CyberTrailer will be $175,000, with deliveries planned to commence in 2025. As of now, it is reported that 80 percent of reservations have already been sold out.
