The Morgan 3 Wheeler Is Dead, Long Live the Limited-Edition P101

The End of an Era: Morgan 3 Wheeler’s Limited P101 Edition

The delightful and nostalgic Morgan 3 Wheeler is set to bid farewell after a decade of captivating automotive enthusiasts. Since its revival in 2011, this model has brought joy to many, harking back to a time when it was last produced in 1952, overtaken by the long-lived 4/4 Roadster. To commemorate the conclusion of the current 3 Wheeler production run, Morgan has introduced an exclusive P101 limited edition model.

Why is the 3 Wheeler Ceasing Production?

Several factors contribute to the end of production for the 3 Wheeler, primarily revolving around its V-twin engine, an X-Wedge unit manufactured by S&S. The engine’s type approval will expire and is not expected to be renewed. Consequently, Morgan has made the decision to halt production of the current model. It remains plausible that a new version of the 3 Wheeler, potentially equipped with a different power plant, might emerge in the future.

Exploring the Limited-Edition P101 Model

The P101 edition is a truly exclusive offering, limited to just 33 units. One of its standout features is a translucent tonneau covering the passenger seat, lending the P101 a remarkable asymmetrical appearance. This cover has a subtle yellow tint, reminiscent of components found in vintage race cars. Moreover, the asymmetrical design is enhanced by the distinct finishes of the exhaust pipes, with one featuring a white ceramic coating and the other in black.

Heritage-Inspired Features

The P101’s design includes several heritage-inspired details, such as solid “Aero-disc” wheels and striking Hella spotlights. Available in various paint schemes, each scheme pays homage to different retro themes: Belly Tank, Dazzleship, Aviator, and Race Car. Notably, the “Dazzleship” graphics reference the “dazzle painting” camouflage used during World War I, designed to confuse enemy targeting, adding a layer of historical significance to the vehicle’s aesthetic.
