The Sangha offers a variety of activities, including weekly meditation and Dharma sessions on Sundays and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. Typically, these meditation sessions last 40 minutes and are followed by a talk or discussion. Community sharing occurs after extended meditations, featuring tea and occasionally dinners or potlucks. Moreover, Thursday evenings feature dinner at various restaurants. Additional morning sits and half-day sits are also available, alongside one or two-day non-residential meditation retreats throughout the year. Members have the chance to join study groups and share experiences. All are welcome.

The Albuquerque Zen Center is situated in the university neighborhood, just south of the UNM campus. This center offers beginners’ instruction on Saturday mornings at 8:15 a.m., followed by two periods of Zazen and a Dharma talk at 11 a.m.
Albuquerque Zen Sangha
The Albuquerque Zen Sangha emphasizes meditation and the Dharma teachings of Zen master Phwa Sunim. The teacher, Alison Hudson, can be contacted at abqzen@yahoo.com. The Sangha offers a beginner’s class on Wednesdays at 7 p.m., Deep Zen Night on Fridays at 7 p.m., and meditation and chanting on Sundays at 9 a.m.

With over 600 Diamond Buddhist centers worldwide following the Tibetan tradition of the Karma Kagyu lineage, meditations are held on the first Sunday of the month, as well as Tuesday and Friday evenings. During these evening sessions, an introductory Dharma talk is followed by meditation and an informal discussion. Newcomers are always welcome, receiving a basic introduction to the practice.

The Karma Thegsum Choling serves as a Buddhist center in the Tibetan tradition and specifically for the Karma Kagyu school, established in Tibet 900 years ago. Weekly sessions occur on Saturdays at 10 a.m. Sunday meditation starts at 10:30 a.m., where instruction is provided if needed. Following meditation, there is a Dharma talk. Wednesdays at 6 p.m. include a traditional Tibetan Puja (liturgy), along with regular visits from Lamas and special retreats.

On Monday evenings, zazen commences at 6:30 p.m., followed by a service at 7:05 p.m. A discussion takes place at 7:15, concluding with a clean-up session. The Valley Dragon Zen Center is led by ordained Soto priests Taisin Joe Galewsky and Keizan Titus O’Brien. This center is dedicated to Buddhist Dharma study and practice, following the tradition of Shogaku Shunryu Suzuki, founder of the San Francisco Zen Center, Tassajara Zen Monastery, and Green Gulch Farm/Green Dragon Temple.
