There’s nothing quite like a girls’ holiday. Turning on your OOO, washing your hands of any stressful life admin, and leaving all your worries and fears behind – a girls’ holiday can cure just about anything. Days will be spent sipping coffees with reel-worthy views, strolling down cute cobbled lanes in search of that under-the-radar spot someone on TikTok once mentioned, and long, lazy afternoons on the beach. Evenings are for extravagant cocktails, necessary trauma dumps, and getting to the bottom of conflicting gossip heard over the last few months.
However, the joys of a girls’ holiday run far deeper than these cursory delights. A holiday like this provides the necessary time to celebrate girlhood and womanhood, with zero expectation, pressure, or stress – a momentary pocket of peace, whether that be found at a wellness retreat on a Balearic Island in Spain, a hiking trip through Italy’s craggy Dolomites, a food-fuelled city break in New York, or a country music-filled trip to Nashville. Below, we explore some favorite girls’ holidays, showcasing what made them so special.
Zanna van Dijk
The Dolomites, Italy
“Every year, my friend Rhyanna and I go on an annual girls’ hiking trip. This time, we headed to the Italian Alps for five days. The Dolomites is home to the perfect combination of rugged peaks, crystal blue lakes, and remote mountain huts. It is hiking heaven. Cortina d’Ampezzo was the perfect base, nestled between stunning landscapes. Plus, there is great mountain culture with incredible huts scattered across the region, each serving fresh homemade Italian food. Our favourite hut, Rifugio Lagazuoi, offers phenomenal food and the best views of the peaks.
“The bright blue water of Lago di Sorapis mesmerized us, and we ended up sitting on its shores for over an hour, absorbing our stunning surroundings. The hike to the lake was quite an adventure, with steep, narrow trails that got the adrenaline pumping. One of the joys of traveling together is how your friendships deepen through shared experiences and creating lasting memories.”
Billie Bhatia
Nashville, USA
“Celebrating our 25-year friendship, my friend Sasha and I packed our bags and boots for Nashville, Tennessee. We stayed at Soho House in the Wedgewood Houston district. Nashville is reminiscent of a vintage Vegas, where the essence of having a good time prevails.
“We explored the famous Honky Tonks, skipping tourist hotspots. Our evenings involved discovering local bars for authentic experiences. One of the highlights was seeing country superstar Luke Combs live, making the trip unforgettable.”
Maria Georgiou and Rhiannon Butler (Mam Sham)
New York, USA
“Traveling with your best pal is a perfect recipe for hedonism, and where better to indulge than New York City? We enjoyed indulging in big portions at local eateries, savoring the vibrant food scene. Our days were filled with savory delights and spontaneous adventures, creating narratives that showcased the charm and energy of the city.”
India Cardona
Menorca, Spain
“I discovered the magic of retreats surrounded by women under the sun. Attending a pilates retreat at Son Blanc Farmhouse on Menorca was both restorative and enlightening. The days were filled with pilates, hikes, and fresh food, making for an enchanting experience. Everything was organized for us, making it an ideal girls’ trip focused on wellness and relaxation.”
Hollie Mercedes
Mallorca, Spain
“This was the girls’ trip that finally got off the ground. We traveled to the beautiful northeast coast of Mallorca to unwind amidst nature and luxury. The integration of work and leisure allowed for deeper connections with friends. Shared meals and laughter at our favorite table were cherished moments, reminding us of the importance of these gatherings.”
Trishna Goklani
Paris, France
“Spontaneously deciding on a girls’ trip to Paris created memories filled with laughter and shared experiences. Exploring the culinary delights of the city, from boulangeries to famous eateries, made our time special. The camaraderie of female friendships creates magical moments, ensuring this trip was one for the books.”
Juti Kongaunruan
Mallorca, Spain
“When you finally organize a trip with your best friends, it brings immense joy. My last trip to Mallorca was perfect for exploring beautiful beaches and local cuisine. A highlight was a vineyard tour at Can Piza Boutique winery, where we enjoyed delicious food and wine. Our time at the beach club and dining at local restaurants made for an unforgettable experience.”
