Part & Parcel

Part & Parcel is a premier destination for happy hour. This vibrant patio bar is nestled in The Whitehall hotel, right at the core of downtown, and quickly gained popularity among local office workers.

The 1963 Happy Hour, inspired by the hotel’s opening year, runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., featuring live music from 5 p.m. onwards. Enjoy beer pails and bottles of house wine for less than $20, or priced at $4 and $5 each respectively. Classic cocktails such as old fashioneds and Mott’s Manhattans are priced at $10. Tasty small bites including chips and queso, meat-and-cheese plates, and street tacos are also on the menu.

Underbelly

At Underbelly, happy hour is characterized by remarkable culinary offerings. The “Covers Menu” showcases unique interpretations of beloved dishes from various chefs across the nation.

Chef Chris Shepherd emphasizes his learning journey through collaborations with other chefs, presenting a chance for customers to experience dishes that have profoundly influenced his culinary craft. The aim is for patrons to seek out these inspired establishments during their travels.

While food takes center stage, happy hour also features drinks at discounted rates. All wine is offered at half price throughout the daily hours of 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by a second round from 10 p.m. to midnight.

OKRA Charity Saloon

OKRA Charity Saloon
All proceeds from OKRA’s sales go to a local charity.

If you’re seeking a way to enjoy drinks guilt-free, OKRA Charity Saloon makes that possible. Every month, all proceeds from this bar’s food and beverage sales are directed to benefit a local nonprofit organization or community cause.

Here’s how it operates: Customers obtain tickets with their purchases, placing them into containers representing three selected Houston-area charities. The organization garnering the most tickets at month’s end receives the total proceeds.

Featuring a cozy atmosphere with exposed brick and wooden beams, the bar also offers an exceptional selection of food and cocktails. The quality is unsurprising, given that OKRA is managed by a talented roster of Houston’s hospitality leaders. In fact, many of the menu’s specialty paninis are named after renowned local bars and restaurants.

The Pastry War

The Pastry War
No pastries are actually sold here. But there’s plenty of tequila.

Despite its name, The Pastry War does not serve pastries. Instead, it offers a selection of agave-based cocktails along with a variety of Tex-Mex and Mexican snacks.

The establishment features a happy hour dubbed the “Mezquila” Happy Hour from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily, where all mescals and tequilas are offered at half price—named humorously after a collaboration of famous musicians.

Owner Bobby Heugel states that the happy hour is an excellent opportunity to sample stellar agave products while playfully mocking industry trends.

Located on the north side of downtown and near the METRORail Red Line’s Preston Station, The Pastry War accepts both standard payment methods and pesos for those interested.

Provisions

Provisions
Provisions’ happy hour menu pays homage to the building’s former tenant: Houston’s famous Antone’s.

Once a famed deli location, 807 Taft Street continues to influence Houston’s culinary scene through Provisions, which honors its heritage with a dedicated happy hour menu.

The highlight is The Original Po Boy, a reinterpretation of Antone’s renowned Po Boy, reflecting the establishment’s lasting impact.

The happy hour menu expresses gratitude for Antone’s legacy, emphasizing how it reshaped local dining experiences. Unique food items, select cocktails at $6, wines for $5, and beers for $4 are available. Happy hour kicks off early from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., boasting convenient parking options.
