Summary of Santa’s Train Rides
Travel with Santa: Exciting Train Rides This Holiday Season
As we all know, Santa will do whatever it takes to deliver presents to every single person on his “nice” list. This year, he is set to embark on two remarkable train rides on America’s most iconic lines.
1. The Broadmoor Manitou & Pikes Peak Cog Railway
Santa is planning a pre-Christmas trip on The Broadmoor Manitou & Pikes Peak Cog Railway in Colorado, recognized as the highest cog railway in the world. He will indeed stay on board to travel to Pikes Peak, an astonishing 14,115 feet in elevation. With his rich experience flying through the air with reindeer, Santa is sure to enjoy the breathtaking views from the train’s massive picture windows.
This unforgettable ride will operate from November 24 to 26 and again on December 2 to 3, 9 to 10, and December 16-24. According to the train line, “Word has it there will be elves passing out hot chocolate and cookies prior to the red cog trains ascending Pikes Peak.”
Moreover, this train ride costs $58.50 for adults and $48.50 for children (12 and under). Make sure to check availability ahead of your adventure, as rides are weather-dependent. For more information, visit cograilway.com.
2. Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel’s Polar Express
However, you can also experience the magic of the season by joining Santa on the rails through The Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel’s Polar Express. This famed train will operate from November 10 through December 30, offering 90-minute rides from Williams, Arizona, to the “North Pole” almost every night at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. local time.
Onboard, guests can expect a festive atmosphere filled with holiday displays that enchant both children and adults alike. This family-friendly experience includes readings from the beloved children’s book The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg, sing-alongs, cookies, and hot chocolate for everyone. Naturally, there will also be a chance to meet Santa Claus himself.
For an extended celebration, consider the Grand Canyon Railway’s Polar Express Package, which features overnight accommodations after the train ride. If you wish to create a unique experience for friends and family, you can even charter your own Polar Express ride.
Polar Express fares start at $58 for adults and $39 for children (ages 2 to 15) from Sunday through Thursday. For Friday and Saturday departures, pricing begins at $70 for adults and $53 for children. The Christmas Eve Limited on December 24 is priced at $97 for adults and $67 for children.
