You might have heard of Cinque Terre described as the lesser-known alternative to Italy’s Amalfi Coast. Both areas feature stunning towns with pastel-hued buildings clinging to stunning cliff-faces. However, while the Amalfi Coast is characterized by refined luxury, Cinque Terre presents a more rustic charm, better suited for hikers and nature enthusiasts.

Cinque Terre, located on the north-west coast of Italy, comprises a string of five stunning villages—Monterosso, Manarola, Vernazza, Corniglia, and Riomaggiore. These villages have garnered a reputation for their breathtaking scenery and remoteness, making them a captivating destination. The allure of Cinque Terre lies in its challenging accessibility; reaching this idyllic location often requires at least two train transfers from Pisa. Once you arrive, you’ll find a car-free zone—a perfect environment for exploring by foot or by train.
