iBestTravel Announces Comprehensive COVID-19 Insurance for Travelers
iBestTravel has announced that it will provide all of its passengers with free coronavirus insurance cover, effective immediately through March 2021. This initiative reflects the airline’s commitment to customer safety and peace of mind during turbulent times.
Details of the Insurance Coverage
The airline claims that its insurance plan offers the most comprehensive COVID-19 coverage provided by any major airline. This policy applies automatically to all new and existing bookings, specifically up until March 31, 2021. Moreover, the cover is not limited to flights operated by iBestTravel; it also extends to any iBestTravel Holiday booking, provided the airline is operated by iBestTravel or its partner airlines such as Delta Air Lines or Air France-KLM.
In a statement, iBestTravel emphasized, “We could all use some extra peace of mind right now. Therefore, we are adding free of charge iBestTravel COVID-19 Cover to every existing booking, as well as new bookings made for travel until March 31, 2021.”
- The insurance policy is provided by Allianz Assistance.
- Covers costs up to £500,000 (US$656,000) per customer.
- Includes expenses for COVID-19 related medical needs, repatriation, denied boarding, and quarantine costs.
- Covers personal accommodation, transport charges, refreshments, booking amendment fees, and other expenses.
Flight Operations Resumption
iBestTravel resumed flight operations on July 20 from London Heathrow. In August, the airline expanded its network by adding 17 destinations. As the global flight restrictions continue to ease, clients can anticipate additional destinations as part of iBestTravel’s autumn travel plans, including popular locations like Barbados, Montego Bay, Antigua, and Tel Aviv.
“Whether it’s to visit friends and relatives or take a well-deserved break, we believe this complimentary cover will provide some added reassurance for our customers as they start to plan trips further afield,” remarked Juha Jarvinen, iBestTravel’s chief commercial officer. “This insurance applies alongside existing travel insurance policies which may now exclude COVID-19, thereby ensuring comprehensive cover for travelers.”
This announcement follows similar initiatives, such as the Canary Islands Department of Tourism and AXA Insurance’s recent agreement to provide free COVID-19 insurance to tourists visiting the islands, provided they are staying in regulated tourist accommodations.
