Recover Your Airline Miles with App in the Air
It’s no secret that 2020 was very…different. This is especially true for travelers.
Frequent flyers often opt for airline mile programs to get a little bit back from their bookings. However, most programs only allow members to use miles for a specific period after earning them. Therefore, if you haven’t utilized your miles after a certain timeframe, you risk losing them.
This situation can lead to disappointment for anyone who accrued miles early in 2020. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been strongly recommended that people stay home and avoid the airport. But what will happen to our miles?
According to internal booking data from the personal travel assistant App in the Air, frequent flyers traveled 5.4 billion miles this year, in stark contrast to nearly 17 billion miles in 2019. Fortunately, travelers may have a chance to reclaim some of those miles they would have otherwise used this year.
App in the Air has launched a special sweepstakes to help travelers recover their miles, enabling them to utilize them when it is safe to travel again. To participate, individuals need to have an account with the app.
If you already have an account, you can enter by taking a screenshot of your app-generated 2020 flight map. The app will compare this to your 2019 miles map, and you can share it on social media with the hashtag #GivingTheExtraMile for a chance to win back the amount of miles lost. The contest concludes at 11:59 p.m. on December 20, 2020.
Moreover, the company will be hosting a #12DaysofAviation giveaway series on social media, allowing users to engage in aviation trivia contests. Each day, a winner will be selected to receive travel-related gifts, which may include luggage, lounge passes, in-flight essentials, and more.
