Hippest NYC Hotel May Be a Parked Van
Updated 11:42 AM EDT, Thu July 23, 2015
Curtains offer a bit of privacy, but some guests enjoy the view of wherever their room happens to be parked.
Tourists who want to stay in unusual New York digs can rent parked vans via an Airbnb host named Jonathan.
Prices start at $22 per night for a stay in one of these converted vans, which may give guests flashbacks to the 1970s.
A converted taxi is also available to rent.
Jonathan makes it clear in his listings that there are no toilet or shower facilities inside the vehicles. (How could there be?)
Airbnb guests say Jonathan tries to park the vehicles near public facilities and offers information about showering at nearby gyms and other facilities.
Guests can’t drive their rooms during their stays, but some of the lodgings do offer more amenities than just a bed (although not much more).
