From 1956 until 1957, Elvis and his family lived at 1034 Audubon Drive in Memphis. It wasn’t long, however, before it became apparent that the Presleys needed more privacy and security than their Audubon Drive home could provide. Therefore, in 1957, Elvis purchased Graceland for $102,000 from Ruth Brown Moore. Graceland became Elvis’ final residence in Memphis and is where he passed away in 1977.

Currently, Graceland is the second most visited private home in the United States, following the White House. Visitors to Graceland will discover not just a tour of Elvis Presley’s mansion but also a variety of other must-see exhibits. Below is an overview of what you can experience at Graceland.

The Mansion

The mansion tour is an immersive experience led by an iPad guide featuring narration from John Stamos. You’ll have the chance to explore various rooms, including the living room, the music room, Elvis’ parents’ bedroom, the dining room, kitchen, TV room, pool room, and the infamous Jungle Room, among others.

After completing the mansion tour, guests are escorted to the racquetball building where Elvis exercised, to his business office where he conducted deals, and to the trophy room showcasing his numerous accolades. The tour concludes with a visit to the Meditation Garden, the final resting place for Elvis, Gladys, Vernon, and Minnie Mae Presley.

The Automobile Museum

Elvis’ Automobile Museum features 22 vehicles that Elvis either drove or rode in during his lifetime. Among them are the iconic 1955 pink Cadillac, the 1973 Stutz Blackhawk, and several Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Moreover, the museum houses two race cars themed around Elvis: an Elvis NASCAR driven by racing legend Rusty Wallace and an Elvis NHRA car driven by John Force. There is also the Highway 51 Drive-in theater, where you can enjoy a film about the King.

The Airplanes

Visitors can tour Elvis’ custom jets while at Graceland. This experience begins in a simulated retro airport terminal featuring a video history of the planes. Subsequently, guests can step aboard Elvis’ two aircraft: the Houndog II and his larger and more famous plane, the Lisa Marie, which includes a living room and bedroom.

Photography Exhibit, “I Shot Elvis”

The Graceland Archives hold thousands of artifacts, video footage, and photographs showcasing Elvis Presley’s life. Many of these items are featured in the Graceland Archives exhibit and the “I Shot Elvis” exhibit, which opened in 2015. This exhibit tells the story of Elvis’ journey to fame from the point of view of the many photographers who chronicled his life and career.

Elvis’ Hawaii: Concerts, Movies and More!

Included in the Platinum and VIP Tour options, you can explore a special exhibit devoted to Elvis’ affection for Hawaii. This unique feature includes rare video footage of Elvis, the jumpsuits and costumes he performed in while in Hawaii, and color video of his first-ever concert in the state.

The Guest House at Graceland

After your Graceland tour, consider visiting The Guesthouse at Graceland, a themed four-star hotel located on the property. Here, you can indulge in a peanut butter and banana sandwich (The King’s favorite), enjoy cocktails named after his songs, and relax around heart-shaped bonfires.
