1. Overview of Hotel AKA NoMad
Located in NYC’s NoMad neighborhood, the new property from AKA is Italian designer and architect Piero Lissoni’s first hotel project in the U.S.
2. Expanding in the Big Apple
Planning an extended stay in New York later this year? Then you’re in luck. AKA, the company behind some of the chicest hotel residences geared toward longer stays, is expanding with a new property in the Big Apple. Moreover, it will be a true design masterpiece nestled at the heart of the trendy NoMad neighborhood.
3. A Transformative Experience
The company took over the former Roger New York hotel on Madison Avenue and is currently transforming it into a modern, ultra-luxe property that will offer guests sophisticated interiors with bespoke accents. Consequently, AKA partnered with renowned Italian architect and designer Piero Lissoni of Lissoni New York, whose hospitality portfolio includes high-end properties worldwide. When it opens in late summer (the official opening date has yet to be announced), Hotel AKA NoMad will also mark Lissoni’s first U.S. hotel project.
“As leaders in the long-stay sector, we are able to introduce our core residential philosophies to evolve the traditional hotel category into a high-quality experience that is more livable,” Larry Korman, president of AKA, stated. Furthermore, he noted, “At our NoMad location, we are working closely with Piero and his team to infuse a tranquil and sophisticated design that strikes the perfect balance between the privacy and contentment of a residence and the hospitality, service, and style of an intimate hotel.”
What can guests anticipate? For starters, they will enjoy sleek Porro Shin Beds designed by Lissoni, complete with custom padded headboards. Moreover, Living Divani work chairs will enhance the work experience. Custom Rod sofas and area rugs from Barcelona-based interiors company Nanimarquina will complement the timeless interiors. The bathrooms will feature high-end Italian ceramic and limestone, paired with matte black Fantini hardware, creating a glamorous spa-like ambiance.
4. Artistic Vision of Piero Lissoni
“You know the film ‘New York, New York’ with Liza Minnelli and Roberto De Niro? For me, this will be AKA NoMad. It will encompass music, life, silence, snow, traffic, and energy, always accompanied by elegance and diversity,” Lissoni mentioned. “It is not meant to be conformist but a hotel that narrates and speaks with a certain style, blending art deco and 50s aesthetics.”
The hotel’s impressive facilities will feature a chic wine bar, a coffee shop, and a library lounge complete with a terrace. Consequently, the hotel plans to host outdoor screenings and events, enriching the guest experience.
