Introduction of Minion Land
A new Minions-themed land, along with a matching ride, is set to debut at Universal Orlando Resort on August 11. This exciting attraction, nestled on the theme park’s Illumination Avenue, promises to enhance the visitor experience.
Villain-Con Minion Blast Ride
The newly established Minion Land will introduce the Villain-Con Minion Blast ride. This family-friendly attraction is geared towards providing “loads of diabolical fun,” and was crafted in collaboration between Universal’s award-winning creative team and the talented filmmakers at Illumination, known for their top-tier animated films.
Guests will have the opportunity to engage in an interactive blaster game, testing their villainous skills against each other in an effort to join the ranks of the franchise’s most iconic supervillains. Set at Villain-Con, which is touted as “the biggest criminal convention on the planet,” attendees will compete to become the latest members of The Vicious 6, characters from “Minions: The Rise of Gru.”
This groundbreaking attraction combines “innovative screen technology” with “state-of-the-art gaming interactivity and elaborate physical sets,” positioning it as a unique, game-based adventure. Visitors will navigate immersive environments filled with nefarious villains and playful Minions from Illumination’s films.
During the experience, guests will use an interactive blaster to earn points by “blasting a variety of items” and creating as much mayhem as possible. Unlike traditional rides, participants will stand on a motion-based pathway that allows them to “wind and glide through various scenes,” enhancing the thrill of the adventure.
It is an experience filled with mischief that promises to be “so much fun, it’s a crime.”
Minion Cafe and More
In addition to the ride, Minion Land will feature a new Minion Cafe, serving as a sister location to the one at Universal Studios Hollywood. Other surprises inspired by beloved characters from Illumination’s blockbuster franchises will enhance the immersive environment. Furthermore, the beloved attraction, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, will also be part of the new Minion Land.
