Tukad Cepung Waterfall – What To Expect

The hike to Tukad Cepung Waterfall takes about 15 minutes and offers a reasonable workout. At first, you will descend a steep concrete stairway, then the path evens out as you walk beside the stream before you encounter another steep staircase leading to the riverbed.

The final portion of the hike requires navigating uneven stairs, which can be quite large—two to three times the size of standard steps. Although there’s a railing for support, those with mobility issues may find it challenging.

If you veer right at the riverbed, you will discover a smaller waterfall surrounded by lush jungle, perfect for a refreshing natural shower. Turning left leads you down a rocky path to the famous Tukad Cepung Waterfall.

The last part of the trek involves wading through the shallow riverbed and maneuvering around sizable boulders. For comfort, wearing sandals is advisable as they can remain on throughout the hike.

Upon reaching the waterfall, expect crowds as many people gather to take photos; however, keep in mind that the waterfall might not be as awe-inspiring as the stunning images portrayed online. Nevertheless, it remains a captivating destination but may not live up to its skyrocketing fame from social media.

When To Visit

Tukad Cepung Waterfall flows year-round, making any month suitable for a visit. If you wish to witness sun rays cascading into the cave, the optimal time to arrive is between 9 AM and 11 AM.

Conversely, if avoiding the crowds is your priority, consider visiting later in the afternoon, although even during this time, solitude isn’t guaranteed due to the site’s popularity.

How To Get To Tukad Cepung Waterfall

Tukad Cepung Waterfall is situated in Tembuku village, within the Bangli area of eastern Bali.

It’s approximately a 1-hour drive from Ubud or about 1.5 hours from Kuta. You can conveniently combine your trip with Goa Raja Waterfall since the two locations are in close proximity.

The best mode of transportation is to rent a scooter or hire a private car and driver. Both options can be arranged through various online platforms.
