The Exceptional Volvo P1800 Cyan GT
Once upon a time, a group of Swedes wanted to modify their cars. They started an outfit called Polestar and tuned Volvos and raced touring cars, but the Polestar name was later bought out by Volvo. What remains is an outfit now called Cyan, and you may know it for the incredible P1800 Cyan restomod from a few years ago. That car is so good, it sort of ruined the dream of buying and enjoying any original P1800 coupe for us, as the remastered version feels like destiny rendered real for how fun it drives. Now, for those who appreciate a little more cushion in their ride, Cyan has engineered a GT version of its modded Volvo, and it’s just as special.
Introducing the P1800 Cyan GT
The original P1800 Cyan introduced in 2020 is an attempt at introducing track-oriented performance in a tuned version of the classic coupe, but the new GT is, well, more of a grand tourer, naturally. Considering each P1800 Cyan is totally custom, it’s maybe not surprising that a comfort-oriented version showed up eventually.
Custom Performance Tailored to Your Preferences
Its totally custom nature also means there’s no bolted down power targets, as each model is tuned to the customer’s taste and preference. So far, the two GT models Cyan has worked on have power outputs between 350 and 420 horsepower from the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the regular P1800 Cyan, linked to a five-speed Holinger gearbox.
Weight and Design Features
The steel and carbon fiber body still weighs in under 2,300 pounds (around 1,000 kilograms), but the introduced titanium roll cage has been modified for the GT version without compromising safety. This particular P1800 Cyan GT has been specified in a metallic green exterior paint job matched with a sand-colored interior. The GT is a little more comfortable than the existing P1800 Cyan coupe with increased sound deadening materials and an adjustable suspension setup tuned for winding roads and long-distance driving.
Limited Production and Availability
So far, one of the two GTs in development is ready and headed to its U.S. customer. Cyan claims only a limited number of the GT models will be produced, so act swiftly to explore this luxury vehicle.
Pricing Considerations
As for price, the customized coupe retails for around $500,000 to $700,000, and we anticipate the additional tuning and different materials may require a similar, if not inflated price for the GT car. But if you have to ask …
