Record-high temperatures have sparked wildfires across Europe this week, forcing tens of thousands of people from their homes.
The European Forest Fire Information System indicated that 19 European countries were at “extreme danger” for wildfires Wednesday, spanning from Portugal and Spain in the southwest to Albania and Turkey in the southeast.
Moreover, hundreds of deaths have been attributed to the soaring heat, which scientists assert is consistent with climate change effects.
