For a visual wonder that evokes excitement and nostalgia, Roald Dahl’s Charlie and The Chocolate Factory has had a unique journey to the big screen. Continuing their pursuit of grand constructions, filmmakers roamed around Oxford, utilizing the prestigious university’s ceremonial buildings. Scenes were filmed in snow-covered locations including the quad of the Bodleian Library and the Radcliffe Camera. Nearby Mapledurham, known as the backdrop for classic war films, also hosted some of the scenes.

Lyme Regis

St Albans

London
